Who We Are

Thank you for visiting the Saratoga NY Kennel Club website! We hope you enjoy browsing our website, and that you find a lot of useful information. We look forward to sharing good times in all aspects of the dog world with you. We are an AKC member club, and abide by their guidelines, which with the acceptance of mixed breed dogs in performance events, goes beyond the purebred dog.

We are proud to have two AKC recognized all breed point shows, rally and obedience trials, and two Barn Hunt trials held yearly, in addition to a weekly conformation handling class. View our offering here.

We hope that you consider joining our Kennel Club, and that we can help make your experiences with your dog more enjoyable and rewarding.

Membership and Meetings

The Club’s primary territory is Saratoga County with meetings held in the greater Saratoga Springs city area. Members from outside the area are welcome to join.

Club meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm EXCEPT January and August. No meetings are held in those months. We have a yearly picnic that is held in June.

Meetings are currently held at The Brick, 2 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY where members may come early for dinner and conversation. We are proud to offer an educational program at every meeting at no cost to our members.

We would love to have you join us! If you are interested in becoming a member of the Saratoga (NY) Kennel Club, please contact us and our membership chair will be happy to go over our membership application procedure with you! Membership applications are available at each club meeting.

History

Saratoga (NY) Kennel Club was founded in the early 1970’s.  Its primary territory is Saratoga County with meetings held in the greater Saratoga Springs city area.  Members from outside the area are welcome to join.

Education and the hosting of dog shows and dog events are the primary goals of the club.  Along with the shows at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds each August, the club has also hosted other shows in other places such as the Saratoga Springs City Center and “The Dome” in Queensbury NY. In the past, the club had offered obedience classes along with conformation handling classes.  Currently, the club does not offer obedience or rally classes.

The club has worked with local and state government officials on dog-related legislation. And supported the Saratoga County Animal Shelter with donations, especially when the new shelter was being constructed.
